Canción


Cuando soy el cielo
un pájaro reluciente
me abre de un tajo con los cuchillos de la canción.

Cuando soy el mar
nubes feroces se zambullen en mis espejos,
quiebran mi aliento suave con su sollozo carmesí.

Cuando soy la tierra
siento cómo se gasta mi carne de roca:
piedritas, arena, un polvo fino, nada.

Cuando soy una mujer -Oh, cuando soy
una mujer,
mis pozos de sal desbordan y desbordan,
los poemas fuerzan el cerrojo de mi garganta.

a glittering bird
slashes at me with the knives of song.

When I am the sea
 fiery clouds plunge into my mirrors,
fracture my smooth breath with crimson sobbing.

When I am the earth
I feel my flesh of rock wearing down:
pebbles, grit, finest dust, nothing.

When I am a woman -O, when I am
a woman,
my wells of salt brim and brim,
poems force the lock of my throat.
